Call for Papers
As linguistics continues to grow and connect with other fields, the study of
language is now aided by a diverse range of investigative tools and methods.
In current research, however, these methods are often viewed as mutually
exclusive, if not eliminative, and the subtleties of going from theory to data
and back are frequently lost.
This workshop aims to develop the common ground where multiple linguistic
methods converge and contribute to the understanding of the language faculty in a
complementary fashion, which is indeed the theme laid out in the founding
documents of modern linguistics (Chomsky 1955/1975, Labov 1969).
We invite contributions that highlight how formal linguistic analysis informs,
and is in turn informed by, empirical methods that involve sociolinguistic,
experimental, computational, corpus-based and other approaches.
